Idk what to put in a manifesto that others havent already... I primarily use the web for self expression etc. I feel most myself online and online i feel most myself on my website. Everyone on neocities seems to hate social media and I am no exception! social media sucks, CEOs suck, ads suck. So I'll live in my own webby corner i guess. And if neocities goes down too I will adapt!
I wasn't really that conscious when Old Web was around (I was a baby) but i def was when it was revived (Quarantine 😨...). I really love its aesthetics and its limitlessness but with this site i don't intend to wholly replicate the old web (save for some pages like my music page), rather utilize the advancements that we have now to make something more ambitious. For example I really love skeumorphism as a design philosophy and I'm sad it's past its prime, but with all the different :hover and :active rules i can add to divs, it feels possible to breathe a new life to it.
More than anything I want my site to feel alive and something you can feel and hold onto, almost as an anchor from the ever-shifting auto-cannibalising landscape of the modern internet. I achieved this goal for myself, at least. ITEM64 is my home and I'm glad to have made it : )
